Blueberry Skies

Written for my best friend in the world, Jack.

Monday morning came with a song
No fever dreams kept you up till dawn
Bluejay in the bullfrog by the pond
Harmonize, and so it seems his timeless chorus of the stream
Maybe I wasn’t listening

Paintbrush, full of crimson and gold
The sunrise strokes across the sky so bold
Gentles droplets slipping down the clouds
Coalesce into a view
Picture frame of morning dew
Somehow you always slept right through it all

Summertime is on the run
Don’t wait too long
Summertime is on the run
There’s still time to chase dragonflies
Under these blueberry skies above

Off to see the Wizards in the woods
Each trail we take’s a page in the story book
I think I heard and owl up In the trees
In A fortress made of branch and leaves
Always watching never seen
You know Magic isn’t make believe at all

Someday you and I will become stars
I’ll feel your warmth from galaxies apart
Sunshine is just starlight seen up close

Beaming down on worlds unknown
Waves of color over flow
Turns out we’ve never been alone

Summertime is on the run
Don’t wait too long
Summertime is on the run
There’s still time to chase dragonflies
Under these blueberry skies above
